New Beginnings: Hunter

I recently teamed up with a dear friend of mine whose passion is animal rescue. She has such a big heart for homeless and mistreated furbabies and I am so proud of her for following her dreams. She is currently a foster for cats and dogs but she has plans to have an animal rescue of her own one day. In the meantime, she works closely with Atlanta animal rescue, Dog Days Rescue, out of Kennesaw. This particular rescue is always looking for short term and long term volunteers throughout metro Atlanta. You can volunteer by fostering, transporting animals, helping out at adoption events, and more! I had the pleasure of donating my time and photographs to this local foster.

Meet Hunter. His previous family couldn’t stand fleas but never gave him flea prevention. Before deciding to get rid of him, they kept him permanently chained to a tree for 3 years. Hunter has since been seen by Dog Days Rescue’s wonderful vet where he was treated for fleas, brought up to date on his shots, treated for parasites, and tested for heartworm. He came up heartworm positive, of course, because he’s been chained outside for 3 years with no preventative care of any kind.

Hunter is very sweet with people, good with kids, and doesn’t mind cats. His isolation has left him unsure how to behave around other pups right now though. The rescue is hoping to get him into training with Frogs to Dogs soon to help acclimate him.

He is currently loving nights indoors on a soft blanket with his temporary foster, but there are still things he needs. Donations for Hunter’s veterinary needs, heartworm medication, and training can be made directly to Dog Days Rescue and all donations are tax deductible!

His eyes are just so expressive and he really is as sweet as he looks!

Hunter behaved very well during his bath. I’m pretty sure getting clean felt wonderful to him!

I don’t think this pitiful face is from the bath. I think he’s ready to have a furever home! ♥

He’s such a handsome boy and will make a great addition to someone’s family!
